Let’s talk about how to make homemade almond milk with a juicer (or blender too). Did you even know you could make your very own version of creamy almond milk? Well, the answer is you can and it’s super simple to do.
There are a few perks to making your own almond milk:
- Most store-bought almond contain a lot of fillers and preservatives.
- The few brands that contain just almonds and water…are expensive.
- It can be zero waste (I’ll explain later)!
Previously, I made almond milk in my blender at home. However, the 10 minutes of extra leg work was just too much for me to commit to it regularly. Now, I’ve been making almond milk in my juicer for close to a year. By using the juicer, prep work is done in nearly half the time. I appreciate this more than ever with a newborn at home!
With a blender, you have to add the nuts and water to the blender and blend well. When finished, you run it through a fine strainer, nut bag, or cheesecloth. For the juicer method, you simply add the ingredients to the juicer and release the “almond juice” and BOOM, you’re good to go. The added cherry on top of the juicer method, is you can actually reuse the pulp. Yes, the almond pulp can be dried and used as almond meal or almond flour for baking other recipes like my Peanut Butter Cookies.
As you can see, the process is pretty simple. Just soak your raw almonds in two-three cups of water overnight, making sure they’re covered. When the next day rolls around, you can drain and rinse. Then add almonds to your juicer, alternating between equal parts almonds and fresh water. To add a little razzle dazzle to your milk, you can toss in 2-3 dates, vanilla extract or cinnamon. And finish it off by letting that almond pulp dry into the perfect almond flour!
Yes, it’s that simple. If you’re looking into a high quality juicer, I highly recommend that NamaWell juicer. Use code STEPHANIE10 for a discount on your very own juicer!
